RLCraft Dregora Server Hosting

RLCraft Dregora puts RLCraft's brutal survival onto Dregora, a custom world built with Open Terrain Generator. Shivaxi made it on Forge 1.12.2 as a curated take on both, and it has passed two million downloads. The world is what sets it apart, and what a server has to carry.

What RLCraft Dregora Is

The RLCraft Dregora modpack logo
RLCraft Dregora by Shivaxi: Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge, 214 mods in the newest release.

The pack has 214 mods, of which 21 stay on the players' side. The RLCraft side is all there: Lycanites Mobs and Ice and Fire for monsters and dragons, First Aid for injuries per body part, Simple Difficulty for temperature and thirst, Spartan Weaponry, Reskillable for skills, and Scape and Run: Parasites for the thing nobody wants to see spread.

Dregora itself is the map. Open Terrain Generator builds the landscape, with Battle Towers, Roguelike Dungeons, Doomlike Dungeons and Recurrent Complex structures across it, the Defiled Lands in between and Better Nether below.

How Much RAM an RLCraft Dregora Server Needs

For two or three friends we plan 6 GB; at four to eight players it is 8 GB, and past that 10 GB. Minecraft 1.12.2 is light per mod, and FoamFix helps further. What costs more than in regular RLCraft is the world: Open Terrain Generator does a lot of work per chunk, and Dregora is dense with structures.

The server runs on Java 8, which the panel sets for Minecraft 1.12.2. Because the pack is older, it also leaves more headroom than a modern pack with the same number of mods.

Pregenerating Dregora, and Keeping Parasites in Check

Each Dregora chunk takes longer to build than a normal one, so pregenerating pays off. Chunky, the tool our World tab uses, does not exist for Minecraft 1.12.2, so on this pack the tab cannot do it for you. Chunk Pregenerator does support 1.12.2 and only needs to be on the server, so it can go into the mods folder without players adding it.

Parasites deserve a plan too. Scape and Run: Parasites can spread through a world if nobody deals with them, and a large parasite population is a heavy load on any server. How they behave is set in the server's config folder, which the server pack brings along.

Setting Up RLCraft Dregora on Our Panel

  1. Back up what is there now

If the server already holds a world, make a backup on the Backups tab. The installer moves an old mods folder aside under a dated name instead of deleting it. A server on Paper or vanilla goes to Forge on the Settings tab first, because the Mods tab only shows on a server with a mod loader.

  2. Search for RLCraft Dregora on the Mods tab

Type the name and pick the RLCraft Dregora entry from CurseForge.

  3. Choose version 1.1.2b, or the one your group runs

Take the exact version your players installed. Two releases can differ by a few mods, and a player whose list does not match the server's is turned away at the door.

  4. Install it in one go

The machine fetches the pack itself and switches the server to Forge 14.23.5.2860 for Minecraft 1.12.2 on Java 8. The server pack the makers put out carries the configs, so the server starts with the same settings your players have.

  5. Start it and wait for Done

The first start loads 193 mods and builds the spawn area, which takes a few minutes. When the console prints Done, players join with the address from the panel.

Questions About RLCraft Dregora Servers

What is the difference between RLCraft and RLCraft Dregora?

RLCraft Dregora keeps RLCraft's survival mods and plays them on the Dregora world, a custom landscape built with Open Terrain Generator, curated by Shivaxi, the maker of RLCraft. Worlds of the two do not mix.

How much RAM does an RLCraft Dregora server need?

Up to three players: 6 GB. Four to eight: 8 GB. Nine or more: 10 GB. Exploring new land is the heaviest part, because every Dregora chunk takes a lot to build.

Can I pregenerate a Dregora world?

Yes, but not with Chunky, which has no 1.12.2 version. Add Chunk Pregenerator to the server and run it from the console before your group joins.

Does RLCraft Dregora run on Java 8?

Yes. Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2860 runs on Java 8, and the panel switches the server to it when you install the pack.
