Medieval MC Server Hosting

Medieval MC is Luna Pixel Studios' fantasy RPG pack, from the same studio as Better MC, and it goes all in on castles, kingdoms and dragons. The fourth edition, MMC4, runs on Forge 1.20.1 with more than four hundred mods, and much of its weight lies in the world it builds.

What Medieval MC Is

The Medieval MC modpack logo
Medieval MC by Luna Pixel Studios: Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge, 456 mods in the newest release.

MMC4 has 456 mods, and 48 of those never touch the server. Better Combat and Simply Swords set the pace of a fight, Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks and Ars Nouveau supply the magic, and Ice and Fire brings its dragons. Medieval building mods fill the land with villages and ruins, and When Dungeons Arise, the YUNG's series and Biomes O' Plenty shape the rest.

Settling down is part of it as well. MineColonies lets a player found a town and watch colonists build it, Guard Villagers protects ordinary villages, and Serene Seasons turns the year around them. For those who travel, the Twilight Forest, the Aether and Blue Skies wait beyond their portals, with bosses from L_Ender's Cataclysm, Mowzie's Mobs and Bosses of Mass Destruction along the way.

How Much RAM a Medieval MC Server Needs

The pack is heavy to begin with, 408 mods on the server, and two parts of the game add to it as it goes on: new land, which dozens of structure mods have to fill, and colonies, where every citizen is a creature with a job.

Ice and Fire's dragons deserve their own mention. A grown dragon is a large creature with a lot to calculate, and one fighting near a village can be felt by everyone online. The lag guide explains how to find out what the server is busy with when that happens.

Pregenerate a Medieval World First

Medieval MC does not ship a pregeneration tool, but the World tab in our panel sets one up for you: it adds Chunky and fills the square around spawn that you choose. For a pack with this many structures, a radius of 2,000 to 3,000 blocks before opening the server takes the worst stutters out of the first week.

The pack shares a studio with Better MC, and it shows in how much of the load is world generation. What works for one works for the other: pregenerate, keep the group together early on, and give the server a little more memory than the player count alone suggests.

Setting Up Medieval MC on Our Panel

  1. Back up what is there now

If the server already holds a world, make a backup on the Backups tab. The installer moves an old mods folder aside under a dated name instead of deleting it. A server on Paper or vanilla goes to Forge on the Settings tab first, because the Mods tab only shows on a server with a mod loader.

  2. Search for Medieval MC on the Mods tab

Type the name and pick the Medieval MC (MMC4) entry from CurseForge.

  3. Choose version v39, or the one your group runs

Take the exact version your players installed. Two releases can differ by a few mods, and a player whose list does not match the server's is turned away at the door.

  4. Install it in one go

The machine fetches the pack itself and switches the server to Forge 47.4.13 for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Java 17. The server pack the makers put out carries the configs, so the server starts with the same settings your players have.

  5. Start it and wait for Done

The first start loads 408 mods and builds the spawn area, which takes a few minutes. When the console prints Done, players join with the address from the panel.

Packs Close to Medieval MC

Better MC comes from the same studio and shares its taste for world generation. DawnCraft and Cisco's Fantasy Medieval RPG are medieval RPGs with more focus on combat, and Life in the Village 3 is built around MineColonies itself.

Questions About Medieval MC Servers

Which edition of Medieval MC is this page about?

MMC4, the Forge edition for Minecraft 1.20.1, in version 39 from 26 February 2026. Other editions of Medieval MC are separate packs with their own worlds, so check which one your group installed.

How much RAM does a Medieval MC server need?

Our numbers are 8, 10 and 14 GB, for up to three, up to eight and up to sixteen players. Colonies and dragons push it up over time, so a server that has run for a few months may need the next row.

Can I build a colony on a Medieval MC server?

Yes. MineColonies is in the pack, and a colony is one of the best parts of playing it together. Every citizen is a creature the server has to run, though, so a server with several colonies needs the larger rows of the table.

Does Medieval MC come with a server pack?

Yes. Version 39 has one, and the installer uses it, so the configs arrive together with the mods and Forge 47.4.13 is set for you.
