Standard is the size most people here actually pick, and that is not an accident: it is the first one that carries a mid-weight modpack without you having to strip the settings back. If you came from Starter and the server heats up the moment ten people start using WorldEdit, this is the step.

Twelve gigabytes, and why heavy packs need it

Standard is 12 GB with 6 vCPU and 100 GB NVMe. This is the plan for the packs that count their mods in the hundreds: three hundred mods, several custom dimensions, and machines that keep working while the players are asleep.

The extra cores matter as much as the memory here. A heavy pack does not just hold more in memory, it does more per tick, and a tick that runs out of time is a server that stutters for everyone at once rather than for the person who caused it.

A community server, not just a group of friends

Twenty to fifty people online at once is normal on this size when you run plugins rather than mods. That is a public survival server with a shop, a claim system and a map, or a small network before it becomes a network.

It is also the first plan where backups start to matter in practice, because by now the world is worth something to people other than you.

What you pay

Standard is EUR 16.99 per month, or EUR 13.59 per month over twenty-four months. The step below is Starter at 8 GB and the step above is Premium at 24 GB, and you can move in either direction without losing the world.

The tick budget, in plain words

A Minecraft server gets fifty milliseconds to do everything that happens in one tick, twenty times a second. Redstone, hoppers, mob AI, chunk loading and every plugin share that budget. When it runs out, the server slows the whole world down rather than dropping one thing, which is why a single bad farm makes everyone lag.

More memory does not buy more time in a tick. 6 vCPU does, and that is the real difference between Standard and the plans below it once your mod count climbs.

More memory, or a faster machine?

If your console says the server cannot keep up while memory is fine, the answer is not the next plan up. It is either the Performance line on this same size, which puts you on faster cores, or a plugin that is doing something expensive on every tick.

If memory is what fills, then the plan is what fills, and Premium at 24 GB is the honest next step.

What twenty to fifty people actually do

A public server at this size is not fifty people standing at spawn. It is fifty people in fifty different chunks, which means fifty pieces of world loaded at once, plus their farms running while they walk away from them.

That is the real load, and it is why 12 GB with 6 vCPU is the point where a hobby server starts feeling like a service to the people on it.

Maps, renders and the other things that run beside the game

Web maps, stats pages and Discord bridges all sit next to the server rather than inside it, and each one wants a slice of the same machine. A full map render is the heaviest of them and is best done once, at night, before you invite anybody.

Disk is what those tools cost most: 100 GB NVMe carries the world plus a rendered map without the two fighting over room.

Choosing between Standard and the plan above

Take Standard when one heavy pack or one busy public world is the whole plan. Take Premium when there will be two things running at once, or when the pack is the kind that generates dimensions while people play in them.

Money follows that split rather than ambition: EUR 13.59 against EUR 23.99 per month on the long term is a real difference for a hobby server and a rounding error for a community with a shop.

The evening a server gets busy

Servers rarely grow smoothly. Somebody posts the address in a bigger Discord, thirty strangers arrive within an hour, and everything you never tuned becomes visible at once: spawn protection, the anti-grief rules, the entity limits and the map that has never been rendered.

12 GB takes that evening in its stride. What does not is a spawn region nobody prepared, so pre-generate the area around it before you go looking for players rather than after.

The same step on the other editions

On the Bedrock list the comparable plan is Village at 6 GB, and it carries more players per gigabyte than this one does, which is a property of the edition rather than of us.

How to tell whether Standard is enough

Count chunks, not people. A server holding a hundred loaded chunks at peak behaves completely differently from one holding four hundred, and the second number is what fills 12 GB.

The panel shows both, and the Copilot will read them for you and say which of the two is growing faster than the other.

A plugin set that fits this size

Permissions, claims, an economy, a shop, a chat filter, a map, a Discord bridge and a backup scheduler. That is the shape of most public servers on 12 GB, and together they cost far less memory than one mid-sized modpack.

The expensive one in that list is always the map, and only while it renders. Everything else is cheap enough that the world itself stays the thing that decides your plan.

Two mistakes we see on this size

The first is giving the server every gigabyte the plan has. A Java process that is handed all of 12 GB leaves nothing for the operating system to write files with, and the symptom looks exactly like a plan that is too small.

The second is running the map render and the backup at the same hour. Both read the whole world from disk, and together they turn a healthy evening into a slow one for no reason at all.

Where Standard sits in the range

Three plans below it are for groups, three above it are for networks, and Standard is the one in the middle that does both badly on a bad day and both well on a normal one. That is not a compromise, it is the shape of the demand: most public Minecraft servers really do live in this bracket.

If you cannot decide between this and the plan on either side, the tiebreaker is what you will run in three months rather than what you are running today.

How it compares

Standard has 4 GB more memory than Starter, for €4.80 more a month on the twenty-four month term. If this gets tight, Premium is the next step up: 12 GB more for €10.40 more a month.
