Dedicated Performance Plan

Dedicated Performance is the largest thing on this ladder and the only one bought for a ceiling rather than a need. Ninety-six gigabytes and eighteen cores on faster silicon is an event server for hundreds of people, or a network that should never have a bad evening. Past this you are not buying a plan any more, you are buying a machine.

Bought for a ceiling, not for a need

Dedicated Performance is 96 GB and 18 vCPU, the largest thing on this ladder. Almost nobody needs this on the day they buy it. It is bought by people who know what an event evening does to a server and would rather not find out again.

The honest version: if a plan below this one is holding twenty ticks a second today, this will not make the game feel different. What it changes is the size of the crowd it takes to make it feel different.

What an event evening actually does

Hundreds of people arriving inside a few minutes is not the same load as hundreds of people playing. Joining is expensive: chunks load, entities spawn in, inventories sync, and it all lands in a short window. That window is where servers die, and it is the case this size is built for.

350 GB NVMe of disk on a 1 Gbit/s Port is the other half of that: the world data has to come off the disk and go out over the network at the same time.

Price, and where it stops

Dedicated is EUR 87.99 a month on the twenty-four month term and Dedicated Performance is EUR 142.99, a difference of EUR 55.00.

There is nothing above this in the fixed plans on either line. Past this the answer is a machine of your own, and that is a conversation rather than a checkout.

Arrival is not the same as playing

A server holding three hundred people who are already in the world is doing steady, predictable work. The same three hundred arriving inside two minutes is a different machine entirely: three hundred chunk loads, three hundred inventories, three hundred entities appearing, all inside a window nobody can spread out.

That is why event servers fail at the start and not in the middle, and why the size that survives it is picked for the peak rather than the average. 96 GB and 18 vCPU on this line exist for the peak.

The other half is the disk and the port: 350 GB NVMe of NVMe has to hand over the world while the 1 Gbit/s Port pushes it out, in the same seconds. Either one being the slowest part shows up to a player as the same thing, a login that hangs.

There is nothing to compare it against

Every other plan on this line has a standard plan at a similar price with more memory, and on most of them we say to take that one. Here there is no such comparison: plain Dedicated is EUR 87.99 a month on the twenty-four month term and holds the same 96 GB. There is nothing larger on either line.

So the question is not size against speed. It is whether EUR 55.00 a month is worth faster cores under the same ninety six gigabytes, and that is only worth it if the machine is regularly at its limit.

If it is not, plain Dedicated is the same server with the same memory for less, and you can move to this line later on the day it stops being enough, keeping the world, the files and the address.

The server this was built for

One evening a year where the number on the player list is the point: a launch, a season start, a charity stream, a build competition finale. The rest of the year the machine is bored.

That is not a waste. 96 GB and 18 vCPU sitting idle for eleven months is what makes the twelfth one work, and nobody who has watched a launch fail buys it any other way.

How it compares

Dedicated Performance has 32 GB more memory than Enterprise Performance, for €28.80 more a month on the twenty-four month term.

What runs comfortably on it

Dedicated Performance is 96 GB, and there is nothing in our RAM guide that does not fit in it: RAM guide.

Workloads the Dedicated Performance plan's memory covers.
What you runMemory the guide lists
Vanilla 1-5 players2-4 GB
Vanilla 10-20 players4-8 GB
Light modpack (50 mods)4-6 GB
Medium modpack (100-150 mods, up to five players; 200 mods needs the next step up)6-8 GB
Heavy modpack (300+ mods)8-12 GB
Large community (50+ players)16+ GB

Where you can run it

At an event the distance to the machine is felt by everybody at the same second, so the region is worth as much thought as the plan. You pick it at checkout: 9 locations across the US, the UK, the EU, and Asia-Pacific are included, and the Germany (EU) region costs nothing on top of the plan price. The wider network behind Astroworld has no machine big enough for this plan, so it stays on the regions we run on our own hardware.

The standard version of this plan

Plain Dedicated is already the largest fixed plan. On a network that has never had a bad evening, it stays the sensible one. Dedicated is €87.99 a month on the twenty-four month term against €142.99 for this one.
