Project Ozone 3 Server Hosting
Project Ozone 3: A New Way Forward is one of the big skyblock packs of the 1.12.2 era, built around a Better Questing book and an enormous range of mods. It starts in the void and ends with some of the heaviest crafting recipes in the game, and groups still play it on servers today.
What Project Ozone 3 Is

The pack has 261 mods, six of them for players only. Ex Nihilo Creatio gives the first resources from dirt and cobblestone, and from there the route runs through Thermal, Mekanism, Ender IO, Actually Additions, Botania, Astral Sorcery, Blood Magic and Applied Energistics 2, up to Draconic Evolution, ProjectE and Avaritia at the very end.
Its difficulty modes are part of its fame: the normal mode for most groups, and Kappa and Titan for players who want recipes that take far longer. The choice shapes the whole run for everyone on the server, so make it as a group before anyone starts.

How Much RAM a Project Ozone 3 Server Needs
Up to three players: 5 GB. Four to eight: 7 GB. Nine or more: 9 GB. A void world costs almost nothing to generate, Minecraft 1.12.2 is light per mod, and FoamFix in the pack trims memory further. The load grows with production, and PO3 ends in production at a scale few packs reach.
The server runs on Java 8, which the installer takes care of. FTB Utilities and FTB Backups are included for ranks, claims and in game backups.
| Group | Memory | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 players | 5 GB | Starter (8 GB) |
| 4 to 8 players | 7 GB | Starter (8 GB) |
| 9 to 16 players | 9 GB | Standard (12 GB) |
A Finished Pack on an Old Version
The newest release, 3.4.11F, came out on 16 January 2023, and the pack is finished. For a server that is an advantage: no update will change a recipe halfway through your run, and every guide written about PO3 still applies.
The endgame asks for machines that run around the clock for days, such as Avaritia's Neutron Collectors and the larger Draconic Evolution builds. That is exactly the kind of work a server does well while nobody is logged in, as long as the base stays loaded.
Setting Up Project Ozone 3 on Our Panel
Back up what is there now
If the server already holds a world, make a backup on the Backups tab. The installer moves an old mods folder aside under a dated name instead of deleting it. A server on Paper or vanilla goes to Forge on the Settings tab first, because the Mods tab only shows on a server with a mod loader.
Search for Project Ozone 3 on the Mods tab
Type the name and pick the Project Ozone 3 entry from CurseForge.
Choose version 3.4.11F, or the one your group runs
Take the exact version your players installed. Two releases can differ by a few mods, and a player whose list does not match the server's is turned away at the door.
Install it in one go
The machine fetches the pack itself and switches the server to Forge 14.23.5.2860 for Minecraft 1.12.2 on Java 8. The server pack the makers put out carries the configs, so the server starts with the same settings your players have.
Start it and wait for Done
The first start loads 255 mods and builds the spawn area, which takes a few minutes. When the console prints Done, players join with the address from the panel.

Packs Close to Project Ozone 3
SkyFactory 4 and SevTech: Ages of the Sky are the other 1.12.2 skyblocks still running on servers. FTB Skies 2 is the modern take, and Monifactory carries the same appetite for long production chains into 1.20.1.
Questions About Project Ozone 3 Servers
How much RAM does a Project Ozone 3 server need?
Start at 5 GB for a few players, go to 7 GB once four to eight play, and to 9 GB for a larger crowd. The world is cheap; the endgame production lines are what fill the memory.
Which mode should our PO3 server use?
The normal mode for most groups. Kappa and Titan make the recipes far more demanding and are meant for players who already know the pack. Settle it before anyone starts, because it shapes the whole run.
Does Project Ozone 3 need Java 8?
Yes. Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2860 runs on Java 8, and the panel switches the server to it when you install the pack.
Does Project Ozone 3 have a server pack?
Yes. Release 3.4.11F comes with one, and the installer uses it, so the quest book and the configs arrive on the server together with the mods.
