Life in the Village 3 Server Hosting

Life in the Village is a low tech, vanilla plus pack built around MineColonies: you found a colony, take on citizens and watch a town grow around you. dreams01, who also made RAD2, built the third edition on Forge 1.19.2, and LITV4 follows on 1.20.1.

What Life in the Village Is

The Life in the Village 3 modpack logo
Life in the Village 3 by dreams01: Minecraft 1.19.2 on Forge, 282 mods in the newest release.

Life in the Village 3 has 282 mods, 14 of which only matter to players. MineColonies is the center, with Structurize and Domum Ornamentum for its buildings, and Create with Central Kitchen and Enchantment Industry gives the colony machines of a gentle kind. Farmer's Delight, Aquaculture, Handcrafted and Macaw's fill in daily life, and Guard Villagers keep ordinary villages safe.

The world is made for settling in: Tectonic reshapes the terrain, Towns and Towers and the YUNG's series add places to find, and Alex's Mobs brings the wildlife. Immersive Aircraft lets a mayor visit the neighbours. LITV4, with 320 mods on 1.20.1, keeps MineColonies and Create at its core.

How Much RAM a Life in the Village Server Needs

Our numbers are 6, 8 and 10 GB, for up to three, up to eight and up to sixteen players. The mods themselves are moderate; the colony is what grows. Every citizen is a creature with a job, a home and a route through town, so the load follows the size of your colonies more than the number of players.

A server where every player runs a colony of their own needs more than one where the group shares a town. If your players each plan a city, read the table one row down.

Our memory figures for Life in the Village by group size, and the plan that covers each with a gigabyte to spare

LITV4 Has No Server Pack Yet

The third edition ships a server pack with its releases, and our installer uses it, configs and colony settings included. LITV4 does not, so the installer sets it up from the mod list on Forge 1.20.1 and leaves the config folder to you: copy it from your own install in the file manager before the first start.

LITV4 is still in early releases, 0.6 when we counted, and it changes as it grows. For a server that should run for months without surprises, the third edition is the calmer choice.

Setting Up Life in the Village on Our Panel

  1. Back up what is there now

If the server already holds a world, make a backup on the Backups tab. The installer moves an old mods folder aside under a dated name instead of deleting it. A server on Paper or vanilla goes to Forge on the Settings tab first, because the Mods tab only shows on a server with a mod loader.

  2. Search for Life in the Village on the Mods tab

Type the name and pick the Life in the Village 3 entry from CurseForge. Life in the Village 4 is listed next to it as a separate pack, so check the name before you click.

  3. Choose version 2.10, or the one your group runs

Take the exact version your players installed. Two releases can differ by a few mods, and a player whose list does not match the server's is turned away at the door.

  4. Install it in one go

The machine fetches the pack itself and switches the server to Forge 43.3.2 for Minecraft 1.19.2 on Java 17. The server pack the makers put out carries the configs, so the server starts with the same settings your players have.

  5. Start it and wait for Done

The first start loads 268 mods and builds the spawn area, which takes a few minutes. When the console prints Done, players join with the address from the panel.

Medieval MC and MC Eternal 2 include MineColonies next to much more, Homestead and Cottage Witch are cozy packs without the town, and RAD2 comes from the same maker with adventure in place of building.

Questions About Life in the Village Servers

LITV3 or LITV4?

LITV3 is the complete edition on Forge 1.19.2, with a server pack and far more players. LITV4 on 1.20.1 is newer and still in early releases. Pick LITV3 for a stable server and LITV4 if your group wants the new version and does not mind changes.

How much RAM does a Life in the Village server need?

Plan 6 GB for a duo or trio, 8 GB for a mid sized group and 10 GB when nine or more share the world. Large colonies, or one colony per player, move a server toward the next row.

How many colonies can one server hold?

As many as the memory allows. Each colony adds its citizens and buildings to the load, so a shared town is cheaper than one colony per player. Watch the server's use as the towns grow and move up a row when it gets tight.

Is Life in the Village good for players new to mods?

Yes. It stays close to vanilla with a low tech approach, and MineColonies explains itself as you go, one building at a time.
