Create: Astral Server Hosting

Create: Astral takes Create to other planets. Laskyyy built it on Fabric for Minecraft 1.18.2 with custom recipes that tie every mod back to Create, and a quest book that ends among the stars. It is a technical pack on a light loader, which keeps its server smaller than the mod count suggests.

What Create Astral Is

The Create: Astral modpack logo
Create: Astral by Laskyyy: Minecraft 1.18.2 on Fabric, 197 mods in the newest release.

The pack has 197 mods, 11 of them for players only. Create is the backbone, joined by Ad Astra for rockets and planets, Astral Additions, Create Big Cannons, Applied Energistics 2 and Immersive Aircraft. Hephaestus brings Tinkers' Construct style tools to Fabric, and Custom Machinery lets the pack add machines of its own.

It is a demanding pack by design: early resources are scarce, and many recipes go through Create machines that would be optional elsewhere. The newest release, 2.1.5b, came out on 23 August 2026, so the pack is still looked after years after Minecraft 1.18.2 came out.

How Much RAM a Create Astral Server Needs

Fabric is the lighter loader, and Lithium, ModernFix and FerriteCore are in the pack to keep it that way. With 186 mods on the server, our figure is 5 GB for a small group and 8 GB for nine players or more. The weight comes from Create machinery first and from planets later, because every world Ad Astra adds is another dimension the server keeps loaded while someone stands in it.

Chunky is part of the pack, so pregenerating the overworld around spawn takes two console commands before your group arrives: set a radius, then start. On a server that means fewer stalls when someone first flies somewhere new.

Our memory figures for Create Astral by group size, and the plan that covers each with a gigabyte to spare

Claims, Cannons and Planets on a Shared Server

Create Big Cannons does exactly what the name says, and on a shared server a cannon can hit somebody else's base. FTB Chunks is in the pack, so players can claim their land and keep others from breaking or building in it. Set that up before the first cannon is finished.

Rockets carry players to other planets, where the rest of the tech tree waits. Those worlds only load while someone is there, so a group that spreads over several planets asks more of the server than one that travels together.

Setting Up Create Astral on Our Panel

  1. Back up what is there now

If the server already holds a world, make a backup on the Backups tab. The installer moves an old mods folder aside under a dated name instead of deleting it. A server on Paper or vanilla goes to Fabric on the Settings tab first, because the Mods tab only shows on a server with a mod loader.

  2. Search for Create Astral on the Mods tab

Type the name and pick the Create: Astral entry from CurseForge.

  3. Choose version 2.1.5b, or the one your group runs

Take the exact version your players installed. Two releases can differ by a few mods, and a player whose list does not match the server's is turned away at the door.

  4. Install it in one go

The machine fetches the pack itself and switches the server to Fabric 0.18.4 for Minecraft 1.18.2 on Java 17. The server pack the makers put out carries the configs, so the server starts with the same settings your players have.

  5. Start it and wait for Done

The first start loads 186 mods and builds the spawn area, which takes a few minutes. When the console prints Done, players join with the address from the panel.

Packs Close to Create Astral

Create: Above and Beyond is where many players learn Create before Astral, and Create: Arcane Engineering mixes it with magic on Forge. FTB Skies 2 and Craftoria are bigger packs where Create is one part of many.

Questions About Create Astral Servers

How much RAM does a Create Astral server need?

Plan 5 GB for a duo or trio, 6 GB for a mid sized group and 8 GB when nine or more share the world. It is a Fabric pack with performance mods included, so it runs leaner than Forge packs of a similar size.

Which Java does Create Astral use?

Minecraft 1.18.2 runs on Java 17, and the panel sets that when it installs the pack. There is nothing to change by hand.

Can I run Create Astral on Forge?

No. Create: Astral is built for Fabric and uses the Fabric versions of its mods. For a Forge pack in the same spirit, look at Create: Above and Beyond or Create: Arcane Engineering.

Does Create Astral have a server pack?

Yes. Release 2.1.5b comes with a server pack from its maker, and the installer uses it, configs and all. Players install the same version through the CurseForge app.
