Choosing the Right US Region

The United States covers four time zones and roughly 4,500 kilometers from coast to coast. A server in New York and a server in Los Angeles will deliver very different experiences depending on where your players live. That is why we offer three distinct US regions, so you can match your server location to your audience.

US West Coast

Best for communities based in California, Oregon, Washington, and the broader Pacific region. West Coast servers also offer the lowest latency for players connecting from Hawaii, Alaska, and parts of East Asia. If you run a server that attracts both American and Japanese or Korean players, US West is often the sweet spot, expect sub-30ms for West Coast players and around 100-120ms for Tokyo connections, which is still comfortable for survival and light PvP.

US Central

The balanced choice. A central US location sits equidistant from both coasts, which means nobody gets an amazing ping and nobody gets a terrible one. Players on the East Coast will typically see 30-50ms, West Coast players around 40-60ms, and Canadian players from Ontario to Alberta fall somewhere in between. If your community is spread across North America with no single dominant region, Central is the safe pick. It is also reasonable for Mexican players, who generally land under 60ms.

US East Coast

Ideal for the eastern seaboard, New York, Florida, the Carolinas, New England, and eastern Canada. East Coast players will see sub-20ms ping in many cases. This location is also the best option if your server has a mixed US-European community, since transatlantic routes from the East Coast to Western Europe typically add only 70-90ms. That makes it playable for EU players who want to join an American server without dedicated European hosting.

Why Ping Matters in Minecraft

Latency in Minecraft affects more than you might think. The obvious impact is PvP, high ping means your sword swings register late and your opponent seems to teleport around. But it also affects block placement (you break a block and it reappears for a split second), item pickups (you walk over an item and it takes a moment to enter your inventory), and even chat (messages appear with a delay).

For survival servers, anything under 80ms is generally fine. You might not even notice the latency during regular gameplay. But for competitive PvP, minigames, or parkour servers where timing is critical, you want to aim for under 40ms. That is where choosing the right US region pays off.

Keep in mind that server hardware matters too. A low ping does not help if the server itself is dropping TPS because of inadequate CPU or slow storage. Every Astroworld plan uses enterprise NVMe drives and dedicated CPU resources, so the hardware side of the equation is already taken care of. Your job is just picking the right location.

Included with Every US Server

Three US Regions

Pick the coast that matches your community. West Coast for Pacific and Asian crossover traffic, Central for balanced nationwide coverage, East Coast for eastern US and transatlantic reach.

NVMe SSD Storage

Enterprise NVMe drives are the standard in our US locations. World saves, chunk generation, and plugin I/O run at peak speed regardless of which region you choose.

DDoS Protection Standard

Every US server comes with Layer 3/4/7 DDoS mitigation baked in. No add-on to purchase, no extra monthly fee. Protection is live from minute one.

Low Latency for NA Players

Most US players will see ping under 40ms with the right region selected. Central covers coast-to-coast with balanced latency for everyone.

Pterodactyl Panel

Full server management through the open-source Pterodactyl panel. File manager, console, schedules, backups, and sub-users, all from your browser.

Backups On Your Command

Nothing copies your server in the background unless you buy it. You start a backup of your worlds, configs and plugin data from the panel, and that is allowed once every seven days. Restoring is a single click, no file manager digging required. For €1.89 a month extra the Auto Backup add-on turns it into a daily automatic run.

The Three US Regions and What They Cost

What the location adds to the monthly price, read from the order form's own list.
RegionLocation surchargeWhat it is for
US (West)+ €1.50 a monthClosest for the Pacific states, and the shortest route we have for players in Oceania who cannot use Sydney.
US (Central)+ €1.50 a monthThe compromise when your players are scattered across the country and no coast has a clear majority.
US (East)+ €2.00 a monthThe shortest hop to Europe of the three, which matters if part of your community is on the other side of the Atlantic.

Questions About Server Location

Which US region should I pick?

Whichever one the largest group of your players is nearest to. Across the country the difference between the three is real but small; against a server on another continent it is not close.

Do the three US regions cost the same?

Not quite. US (West) and US (Central) add €1.50 a month, US (East) adds €2.00.

What about the players we have in Europe?

They will feel the ocean whichever US region you pick. If that group is large enough to matter, the Germany (EU) region carries no surcharge at all, which makes a second server the cheaper experiment than it sounds.

The three American regions in detail

Each region has a page of its own now, with the price of every plan there and who sits nearest: US East for the eastern seaboard, US Central for a community split between the coasts, and US West for the Pacific side. The full list of nine is on the locations overview.
