Minecraft Server Hosting on the US East Coast
US East is the busiest of our three American regions, and the one that suits the most people: the eastern seaboard holds the largest share of North American players, and it is also the American region that treats an occasional European visitor least badly.
Who sits close to US (East)
New York, Boston, Washington, Atlanta, Toronto and Montreal are all comfortably close, and Chicago and the Midwest are still fine. Once you get past the Rockies it stops being the right choice, and that is what US West is for.
Who picks US (East)
Communities on the eastern seaboard
The default answer for an American server unless you know most of your players are further west. More people are near this region than near either of the other two.
Mixed North American and European groups
If half your players are in Europe and half in the States, this is the least unfair compromise on the American side, in the same way the UK region is on the European side.
Servers with players in eastern Canada
Toronto and Montreal are closer to this region than to anything else we run.

When another region is the better answer
For players in California, Oregon, Washington state or western Canada, US West is a different experience, not a marginal one. If your group is split down the middle of the country, US Central is the compromise that exists for exactly that.

Questions about the US East region
Which American region should I pick?
East if most of your players are east of the Mississippi, West if most are on the Pacific coast, Central if they are genuinely spread out. Guessing wrong is not fatal: we can move the server, and the world comes with it.
Can European players join a US East server?
Yes, and it is playable for survival. For PvP they will feel it, which is why a mostly European community belongs on a European region instead.
Is there a Canadian region?
Not as a separate one. Eastern Canada is close enough to this region that a dedicated Canadian location would not change much.
How far west can I go before this is the wrong region?
Somewhere around the Rockies. Chicago, Dallas and Denver are all fine here; Seattle, Portland, the Bay Area and Los Angeles are the point where US West is a different experience rather than a small improvement.
We have a European clan on an American server. Where should it live?
Here, if the server is mainly American. This is the American region closest to Europe, so it costs the visiting group the least. If the balance tips the other way, host in Europe and let the Americans travel instead.
